Protein for breakfast is vital to start your day off on the right foot!
Coffee and donuts for breakfast is common, but that will not satisfy you. The sugar and carbs will not help you make it through the day. Start your day out right by eating protein which may help with a positive mood, the ability to focus, and/or the energy you need to make it through the day.
Protein is an important building block towards healing the body from the inside out. Protein helps to build up muscles, bones, and even plays a role in hormone regulation. Having good nutritious building blocks to repair your body is vital for healing. If you try to rebuild and heal your body with processed food, the body does not know how to break down processed foods to use for repairing the body.
In 1958 Dr. Royal Lee stated, “In countries where ‘civilized,’ adulterated foods are not used, there is no cancer, no tuberculosis, no pneumonia, no heart disease, no diabetes, no arthritis to speak of…It seems that only a liberal use of white flour and white sugar can cause the extraordinarily high death rate so obvious wherever these foods are common.” This goes to show that the body is not able to utilize processed foods to heal. It is so important to eat protein and whole foods, that is what the body needs most!
By starting your day out with more protein and less processed foods you will be providing your body the nutrition it needs to start your day off right. There are multiple different ways to incorporate protein into your breakfast.
When buying protein it is important to buy organic. It is also important that meats are nitrate and nitrite free. Common protein sources include eggs, breakfast sausage, turkey sausage, bacon, steak, fish, beef, and chicken. Try not to get stuck in a rut of eating the same thing for breakfast every day. If you make steak for dinner, make some extras for steak and eggs for breakfast. Sometimes my favorite breakfast is leftover dinner, especially since dinner usually has a lot of protein in it!!
Scrambled egg cups are also an easy meal to prepare ahead of time, bake, and then freeze. Crack a bunch of eggs in a large bowl and scramble them. Chop up whatever meat and veggies you want for your mini egg muffin cups which may include peppers, onions, broccoli, mushrooms, spinach and ham. Season as desired using salt, pepper, and/or garlic. Spray the muffin tin with avocado oil. Pour in your scrambled egg mixture into the muffin tin cups. Drop in the mixture of meat and veggies into the scrambled egg cups. Add cheese if desired. Put them in the oven at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Once they are cooked you can eat immediately or freeze them for an easy breakfast to warm up on the stove on hectic mornings when you don’t have time to cook!
Learning how to cook and eat for life also not only helps you, but it also helps your entire family that you are cooking for.
