Most people are lacking enough healthy fats in their diet. Different diet trends throughout the years has made people believe that fat-free or low-fat products are more beneficial for their health. If people consume these products, they then do not get enough healthy fats in their diet and are deficient in healthy fats.
People that eat “fat free” products usually eat more, due them not having the healthy fats to keep them full. Healthy fats do not make you fat. Healthy fats actually send messages to the brain that help a person to know that they feel full. Fats also help to contribute to a person’s energy, hormone formation, and aid in building cell membranes.
Healthy fats include olive oil (cold pressed, and extra virgin), avocado oil, walnut oil, flaxseed oil, grapeseed oil, coconut oil, sesame oil, and grass-fed butter. Bone marrow, fatty cuts of meat, fish, lard and beef tallow are all good sources of healthy fats.
Ideas to eat healthy fats are avocados and raw nuts. Eat as many avocados and raw nuts as you would like! Eggs are also a good source of fat, but be sure the eggs are coming from organic pasture raised hens.
Don’t be afraid of fat! If you like to eat an avocado a day, but the avocados all ripen at the same time try putting the avocados in the fridge to last longer. Take one avocado out of the fridge the day before you want to eat it and then you can have a stockpile of avocados!
