Stress. Everyone uses that word very often lately. Everyone seems to be stressed out more lately. If you are under constant stress it can have an impact on your overall health. Stress may cause or make conditions worse like heart disease, high blood pressure, immune function, infertility, and mental health conditions.
According to Dr. Lissa Rankin, “Our bodies know how to fix broken proteins, kill cancer cells, retard aging, and fight infection. They even know how to heal ulcers, make skin lesions disappear and knit together broken bones! But here’s the kicker—those natural self-repair mechanisms don’t work if you’re stressed!”
Don’t stress though! There are ways to help reduce your stress level. When you are trying to manage your stress you must try to do it every day and not just on the weekends. Set aside a little bit of time every day to manage and reduce your stress.
- Make healthy food choices to help support your body’s innate intelligence to heal. Your gut health is linked to brain health so eat right and feel better.
- Get adequate sleep
- Have a positive outlook- Your body hears everything your mind says. If you believe it is going to be a bad day it will be a bad day. Shift your thinking to be positive and you will be amazed at how your life can change. It is possible to learn how to be positive
- Physical activity- Your body is made to move! When you exercise it helps prevent against the physical effects of stress.
- Find a hobby or activity you enjoy! Take the time to treat yourself to some hobby time. If you have children, work out a schedule with your significant other or a family member so you can get some time to destress. Hobbies and/or activities help to get your mind off stress and provide you with something fun that you enjoy.
- Meditation- Take 10 minutes a day to sit in silence and give your brain a break
- Yoga- may help to decrease stress, improve sleep, improve immune function, and reduce food cravings
- Laugh!!!! Laughter is the best medicine! Children laugh often, and adults do not laugh enough.
- Music- Turn off the TV and get lost in some peaceful soothing music. Music can be healing to the body as long as you are listening to the right frequencies of music.
- Get outside! Try to go for a walk everyday, even if it is just to the mailbox and back. Get outside and leave your phone inside. Even just five minutes outside may help to reduce stress and boost your mood.
- The Emotion Code- Release negative energy out of your body. Book a session with Brianna focused on things you are stressed about.
