Hello my name is Brianna Lofquist and I am the owner and practitioner at Clean Life Family. I started this business in November of 2020 while on maternity leave with my daughter Adelynn. I want to share my story so you can see that every person has a different start to their wellness journey.
As a child I was very active and loved to play outdoors. Thankfully, I lived in the country so playing outside was easily accessible. My childhood diet was not the greatest. I ate a lot of macaroni and cheese, chicken nuggets, and pizza bites. I did not like vegetables and I would occasionally eat certain fruits. I did not know any better though at the time. I moved out of the house and I realized the vast amount food options available, but I did not always pick the best options. I went for the easier options since I was working as a construction worker, and I worked long hours. I spent six days a week shoveling and working outside so I did not necessarily gain weight due to the bad food, but I was tired all the time. I attributed my tiredness to working six days a week and nothing else.
I then got a job in the mining industry and I worked shift work. I was always tired once again and I put that off because I was always on shift work. I then decided to try to get a different position that was not shiftwork. My shift then started at 4:30am and went until 12:30 pm. I once again wrote my tiredness off from getting up early.
The mines went through a hard time and ended up closing down so I decided to go back to college. I had always wanted to become a nurse so this was my opportunity. I applied for various nursing programs and I got accepted into a practical nursing program (LPN) and I graduated in 2017. While in LPN school my sister became very sick and traditional western medicine was not helping her. She continued to decline and was in heart failure. I remember her calling me asking what she should do and I told her she needed to go in to the doctor right away. The doctors ran multiple tests, discovered she was in heart failure, but really didn’t offer her a solution. My sister and I are both nurses and we started to dive deep into research and she ended up looking into alternative therapies. I was skeptical, but I really wanted her to get better.
I then started my journey to become a registered nurse (RN) and I was in the RN program when I started learning about alternative therapies. I was hoping that someday I could work in a place where more alternative therapies were utilized. Little did I know at the time that alternative therapy centers are not as common as I had hoped.
My sister then went and saw a natural health practitioner that utilized muscle testing. She was put on a strict diet and multiple different supplements. I went to an appointment with her and I was amazed. I then decided that I was going to go on this strict diet with her to see if I could help myself throughout her healing process. I cut out sugar, dairy, gluten, and caffeine. I will admit stopping all of those things suddenly was a shock to my body, but I learned that I was addicted to those things. Once I stopped eating them and found alternative healthy foods, I felt so much better! I lost around thirty pounds in about a month and a half and I was not even working out! This blew my mind! I would wake up in the morning and feel refreshed! I also did not realize how much sugar I was eating; it blew my mind once I started to read labels and pay attention!
I was able to finish RN school with a mind that was clear and focused. I started my nursing journey in an assisted living facility and then landed a job at a larger hospital where I really discovered the magnitude of sickness that is around. I worked in Duluth, Minnesota for a year then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in a local small hospital. I once again saw patients being admitted time after time for the same problems. Small changes would be made in their treatment program, but they did not fully recover.
Since my sister’s health problems and looking into alternative therapies for my family and myself I felt that there could be a better way to help people. My family and friends often would come to me for advice on natural remedies and I decided that I should make a career out of it. I called Ulan Nutritional Systems and asked what the Nutrition Response Testing program consisted of. The very next day I was signed up for the entire program. I have taken a leap of faith by quitting my day job as an ICU nurse and fully committing myself to my new business Clean Life Family. I am here for people of all ages and ranges of problems. I want to show that it is possible to live a clean life and that there are remedies for health issues.
